Workshop formats for balcony growers

Hands-on sessions on seed starting, soil prep, and harvest planning, built around the same seasonal rhythm as our produce boxes.

From Seed Order to Weekly Harvest

Tell us your growing space and how many people you cook for. A short form covers balcony size, sunlight hours, and whether you want seedlings or seeds. We use this to shape your box and suggest varieties that will actually thrive where you live.

We confirm what is in season and what is ready to ship from local growers. Heirloom carrots, beets, radishes, and leafy greens are packed in compostable wrap with a recipe card that matches that week's harvest. No plastic, no mystery produce.

Choose your box size and pickup or delivery day. Small boxes suit single households and window troughs; larger ones feed a family and fill a deep planter. Delivery windows follow local harvest schedules, so roots arrive within a day or two of being pulled.

Your first box includes a soil-testing kit and a compost starter if you are new to growing. We also send a short note on crop rotation for containers, so the next planting cycle stays simple and productive.

Each week you get fresh roots and greens, plus a storage tip for whatever you do not cook right away. Carrots keep in damp sand, beets in the crisper, radishes in a jar of water. The recipe cards are written for beginner cooks and balcony gardeners.

Every box is scheduled around local harvest windows and packed in compostable materials. If you are curious about the full cycle, see how our process works or read about where the produce comes from.

Workshop formats for balcony growers and first-season gardeners

Soil testing before you plant

Bring a sample from your balcony box or raised bed and we check pH, drainage, and organic matter on the spot. You leave with a written amendment plan for carrots, beets, or leafy greens.

Seedling selection session

We walk through our heirloom carrot list and match varieties to your container depth and sunlight. Each participant picks three types to sow at home with a care calendar.

Compost starter workshop

Build a small kitchen-waste bin with layered browns and greens, then take home a starter culture. We cover odor control, moisture checks, and when the first batch is ready to use.

Harvest-to-recipe demo

Pull roots from our trial beds, clean them, and cook two simple dishes using the weekly recipe card. You get storage notes for keeping carrots and radishes crisp for days.

Container rotation planning

Map your balcony or patio into zones and plan a three-season rotation. We provide a printed chart you can pin near your pots and revisit before each sowing round.
